Your subconscious mind is a powerful force to be reckoned with. It makes up around 95% of your brain power and handles everything your body needs to function properly, from eating and breathing to digesting and making memories.

It’s a very strange being when you think about. The subconscious mind isn’t creative, it doesn’t understand jokes, and it can remember everything you have ever done, said or witnessed. The remaining 5% of your brain, the conscious mind, as the sole purpose of interacting with the physical world.

However, by taking control of your subconscious mind, by becoming aware and in sync with it, you can be sure to take back control of your life and basically achieve anything you want to. This is because when your subconscious mind and your conscious mind is working together to achieve a common goal, you can believe that it will happen. This video shows this process.

Today, we’re going to take a look at how you can take back control and get your mind states in sync with one another. This will lead you to new levels of success where who knows what you’ll be able to achieve.

Visualise Your Success

The first and most important, factor you’ll need to consider when it comes to tapping into your subconscious mind, so you can succeed in anything you like is to visualize what you want or what your goal is. According to study conducted in 1996 at Michigan State University, 46% patients who received instructions in images were more likely to follow their homecare plan.

Jeffery Harper, a lifestyle coach, explains, “This can be anything, no matter how big and small they are, whether it’s giving your children a good upbringing or getting a promotion, to living comfortably with money or moving to a new country. It’s completely up to you. Without defining what you want, there’s no way you’ll be able to achieve it”.

Practice Getting in Touch with Your Mind

Meditation has long been renowned for being a great way to get in touch with your subconscious mind to see how it’s really working. Even just practicing for ten minutes a day can have huge benefits on the way your mind works and the health of your wellbeing.

Jennifer Olson, a lifestyle writer, shares, “Exercise is also so important, not only for your physical body but the state of your mind. I normally start my day with a 20-minute yoga session, followed by a 10-minute meditation session as soon as I get out of bed, just to get the day off to the best start”.

Start Developing Your Writing Skills

With a first thought, writing from the subconscious mind may seem like an abstract concept. Whether you plan on starting a daily journal or even writing a story, you’d be surprised that the subconscious mind plays a huge part in what we write and therefore is a great way to get in touch with it.

Our subconscious mind absorbs so much information and ideas, much of which doesn’t even pass through our conscious mind, making it a great resource when it comes to getting ideas down on paper or on a screen. Also, writing allow you to reach your subconscious emotions and thoughts. Sites like State of Writing and Academadvisor have some great resources you can use when it comes to forming a writing habit. This is a powerful technique.

Set Goals

You might goals already present in your mind that you think about every now and then but that doesn’t mean that they are goals that you’re aiming for. According to study conducted by Dr. Gail Matthews, 43% of people who regularly write down their goals and dreams are more likely to achieve them.

Michelle Parker, a life coach and founder of Cite It In, exclaims, “By writing down your goals and setting them, even if you write down the same thing every single day, the act of writing and reading them back to yourself is a great way to get your subconscious mind in touch with what your conscious mind wants, and it can start taking steps to making it happen”.

Look After Yourself

This is a broad subject, but it’s so vital that you follow if you want to succeed. Looking after yourself means eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, drinking enough water every day and making the best decision to look after your body and your mind.

By fuelling and looking after your body in the right way, you can be sure that you’ll be operating to an optimal level, making it a no-brainer that both your subconscious and conscious mind are working at their very best to make your dreams a reality.

Sub conscious is something which we cannot deal with directly. It is the state of mind which controls all our actions. Way to control it with our conscious mind is impossible because our conscious mind itself is a subset of subconscious mind.
Here are the techniques I have read to control subconscious mind:

    1. Hold your breath thinking strongly of what you want your subconscious mind to be. Holding your breath creates an emergency which is when the subconscious mind comes into action and as you strongly think, it receives signals and it can be moulded.

    2. Following your conscience.

    3. There is a saying “when you start doing things continuosly for 40 days, you will continue to do it without much effort”. As you repeatedly do something, your subconscious mind records that action and continues to play it at the time specified.

Ultimately I would say that subconscious is also part of you. It is just that you dont have access to it. But, when you desire to transform it with all your effort, it listens to you as it belongs to you.

The power of sub consious mind is so great that it control the way we act and react in different situations in a certain pattern
Sub consious mind is what makes you brush your teeth automatically while you conduct other activities
To create a new reaction on different situations you must visualise the way you want to react for at least 8 minutes and subconsious mind will store what you immagined, process it n manifest it in reality
Subconsious mind can receive new pattern of life, store it, process it and manifest it

  • Elise Ward says:

Our minds are continuously exposed on a regular basis from outside environment. It is always not the case that someone is sitting in front of you and programming your mind specifically to operate in a particular negative way. But if we remain in the same environment for a longer period, our mind starts to form a particular belief system based on these outside stimulants.

Also, our minds want to optimize our living and without making too much effort. So the easiest thing in front of mind is to operate on the basis of the things that have happened in your past. For example, if your parents and most of your relatives had been in the jobs in their lives, there are strong chances that you will start your career working in a job, that’s the power of deep ingrained beliefs in our minds for a long time.

  • Tino says:

Our subconscious mind is connected to the infinite intelligence. When we ( the conscious mind) succeeds in impressing the subconscious mind with our repeated action , affirmations and etc with our goal or desire, the subconscious mind would eventually express it and materialize it in your physical world as a matter of time. Our thoughts creates reality. It s interesting.

This is very interesting. I am 82 years young. When I do not do the exact thing at the same time each evening, things go awry . Last night I was working on the computer much later than usual but enjoying myself. However, did not do the exercise that I usually do before bed. I had my reishi tea , went to bed without doing the exercise that i usually do to wind down . Got into bed and listened to my relaxations CD to help me go to sleep but could not go to sleep because i had not done the exercise. My subconscious mind is in control of me , instead of me being in control of my subconscious mind.

  • Tejas says:

This is great article. However, I dont agree with your statement where you mention information is stored in the subconscious mind without the conscious mind is incorrect. I say this because conscious mind decided whether to store the information permanently or temporarily. hence the argument that we remember certain information and certain information we dont remember.

I have come to understand that subconscious mind is like a virtual brain for the physical brain and our 5 sensory organs have virtual brain to receive information.

  • Mamo says:

I have learned from this article that I can rewrite ideas for the subconscious, I do not have to stay at my comfort zone, change for the better by changing the subconscious by writing and repeat write the same thing by repeating the conscious will store it

  • Mayala Sultan says:

It is interesting article as it gives us a chance to know the power of mind within us but also it gives us the key to open our subconscious mind to utilize it in day to day life.
However more research is needed to extend findings on subconscious mind and how it works. Thanks…..

  • Jony Ancheta says:

  • Motlalepula Raborife says:

I really loved the article. I am also teaching my daughter how to control and talk to the sub conscious mind. I have learnt a lot. Powerful indeed.

  • Claudio says:

The subconscious mind is the most powerful tool that we have. It has complete control over our body, and it runs on auto-pilot without having to think about anything.

  • PG Krishnan says:

It is a great article. I learned that mind can be programmed by repetition. The more we repeat, the better the results. Visualization is another technique to program our mind. It has been proven that if we have goal and try to achieve it, we can surely achieve the same sooner or later. Our intensity of desire decides the time limit of achieving the goal. I think we always think a little different if possible a little drastically for the progress of homousians.

  • Raj says:

I like the idea about holding your breath to create emergency to make your subconscious mind to come in to action. I can connect the dots to Pranayama and meditation.
