It’s hard to eat healthy in the best of times, but when you’re confined to the house and the fridge is steps away, it’s easy to constantly snack. Depending on what your fridge is stocked with, this can go one of several ways.
Given the current climate and how so many countries are experiencing a second COVID-19 wave and second lockdowns, we thought it made sense to delve into what it takes to eat easy, healthy meals at your home office. Be it lunch, breakfast, dinner or snacks.
Eating healthy is something we, at Management 3.0 have always believed brings happiness at work and personally. It’s actually part of our 12 Steps to Happiness.
Five Ways to eat healthy from home?
#1: Plan snack and meal times: Some people just eat when they’re hungry, but sometimes that turns into eating when you’re bored, or to procrastinate. If you plan snack and meal times it not only spaces out when and how much you consume food, it also schedules breaks in the day.
#2: Eat Real Foods: As tasty as they are, salty and sugary processed foods aren’t healthy and can reduce productivity. Healthier foods with protein, fiber and healthy fats keep energy levels high for longer.
#3: Drink a lot of water: Water is key as it avoids dehydration. Keep a bottle by your desk and finish it by the end of the day. It helps to drink more by pouring the water into a glass instead of drinking it straight out of the bottle.
#4: Research Recipes: It’s a lot easier to make easy meals from home if you learn fun and delicious recipes. If you don’t like to cook, maybe invite a friend who likes to cook, to the house and enjoy each other’s company while they cook. You can repay the favor another day, doing something else.
#5: Create an enjoyable eating space: Make sure the kitchen is clean, airy and somewhere you want to be. When you eat, take the time to step away from the computer, disconnect and enjoy your meal. It’s a lot easier to do this if you’re eating in a place you feel comfortable and happy in.
